Frequently Asked Questions about VoidAccess

Each app can be blocked individually. You decide what boundary you want to set, and VoidAccess helps you stick to that decision.

You can set the time and unlock price for the apps you choose. System-critical apps such as Phone or Settings cannot be blocked, so important phone functions always remain available.

An active VoidRoom does not stop you from setting additional boundaries. Your existing locks stay unchanged.

You can unlock individual blocked apps early. Unlocking one app does not automatically end the whole VoidRoom or unlock your other apps.

When the time you set is up, that app's lock ends. VoidAccess then gives you a clear overview of what happened during your break.

Accessibility lets VoidAccess detect when a blocked app is opened and stop access to it. VoidAccess uses this access only for that purpose – not to read messages, chats, or personal content.

Your settings, selected apps, and locks stay on your device. VoidAccess does not send this data to its own servers or analyze what you do inside other apps. Accessibility access is also not used to read messages or personal content.

The unlock price deliberately adds friction to an impulsive decision. If you stick to the lock time you chose, you pay nothing. If you want to end it early, a quick “open anyway” becomes a decision you have to think about.

Donating the money would also turn the early unlock into something positive: I broke my own rule, but at least I did something good. That goes against the idea behind VoidAccess. The early unlock is meant to stay a neutral consequence you chose for yourself – not a reward or a way to make breaking the rule feel better.

Restarting your phone does not end your locks. If the Accessibility access needed for app blocking has been disabled, VoidAccess lets you know so you can turn it back on.

If pop-ups still appear and bother you, you can mute them manually from the VoidRoom. The option is always available there.

Your active locks stay in place while you are offline. You only need to go online briefly if you want to pay for an early unlock through Google Play. Airplane mode or losing your internet connection does not remove a lock.

In rare cases, Google Play may take a little longer to confirm a purchase. After a restart, VoidAccess checks the purchase status again and processes an early unlock that has already been confirmed.

The idea is pre-commitment: you set your boundary while you are thinking clearly. If the impulse to break it comes later, the consequence you chose beforehand gives you a reason to stop and reconsider.

No points, coins, streaks, or rewards for making it through a VoidRoom. There is nothing to collect and no reason to keep checking your progress. VoidAccess is deliberately neutral and stays in the background as much as possible.

An “open anyway” button is easy to tap. VoidAccess deliberately makes an early unlock uncomfortable: you can change your mind, but not without the consequence you chose for yourself beforehand.

VoidAccess does not block your whole phone. You decide whether social media, games, or other distracting apps should be unavailable during your study time. That helps reduce phone distractions without taking away the apps you genuinely need.

VoidAccess does not decide which apps are “good” or “bad,” and it does not tell you how much screen time is right. You choose what to block and for how long – whether you want to focus on studying, take a digital detox, or simply spend some time without certain apps.
